Why A Cancer Blog?

I decided to keep this blog having found similar sites really helpful during the early day of my illness and especially in the run up to diagnosis. I've so many friends and family members praying and thinking of me, so many to keep updated I thought this would be a great way to keep everyone in the loop. Now, with the help of our mad Scottish Au Pair (Chloe) I've got round to setting it up. My wife wonderful wife Teresa is also going to make entries, the first few entries from both of will be retrospective but you'll not notice the joins.

God Bless

Hi David and Co, Mel and I have only recently heard that you are facing what is probably the bigest battle in your life and we wanted you to know we are praying for you all(along with the hundreds of others)and are trusting for the miracle God has in store for you. On a practical note please let us know what we can do at any time in any circumstance. Blog brilliant by the way, a fantastic witness. Much love. Mel and Elaine Fletcher.

Recurrence is always an almighty shock but where there is hope there is life. The medical profession only know so much and are only able to provide treatment within their remit. What they fail to understand is that their is a power much stronger than they realise. The Lord guides and strenthens us through periods of great stress and indecision. We have to listen and be prepared to take the right path. Chemotherapy and Radiotherapy are just two options but they carry with them the side effects of very powerful drugs and radiation. What we have to do is believe in ourselves and our bodies ability to heal itself. More people die of the treatment than of the cancer itself. We have to do what we feel is in our best interests. We have to help our bodies by supplying the right nutrients to strengthen our immune system. I do not see cancer as fighting a battle but as an opportunity to overcome adversity and to have the ultimate faith in our destiny. We are all alive until we die and only God can decide when that will be. What is right for one person is wrong for another. Have faith and be strong and do what you feel is right for you.

Dear Dave,
I heard about the current situation you and your family are going through. I hope you receive my message.
I want to thank you for everything you have done for me. You have been matt's inspiration, but what most people don't know is that you have been an even bigger inspiration to me. My relationship with God has grown so much and most of it is thanks to you. Before I moved to Wootton I didn't know the relationship you could have with our heavenly father, but thanks to you and Mu my world has been light up beyond imagination. When I went to Alton Towers some 3 years ago I never thought there could be so many Christians in one place at the same time. It was amazing! Your presence is remarkable. You are never afraid to express your faith and love for God and you have given me the courage to do the same. I would have never raised my hands to God or sung with my eyes closed 3 years ago. But now, now there's a courage inside me that I thought was never there. Thank you Dave for inspiring me to do more, to grow more, to know more, a whole lot more about God.
You and your family have been in my prayers and will continue to be. You are an amazing and wonderful person and I am blessed to have met you and had you as my youth leader. Thank you so much for all that you have done for me. I am sorry it has taken me this long to thank you. I should have done this a very long time ago.

All my love to you and your family.

Sarah Paxton. A very greatful and inspired young lady. xx
