Apologies is this is too much info but......
My health is really not too good at present. The Addenbrookes radiotherapy has left me with ZERO appetite and a very painful oesophagus. Eating and drinking hurts like mad and I'm loosing weight which is not ideal. Really don't went a stent but may have to soon. The polyps removed from my tail end earlier in the month were all benign - which is good news but the surgery was (and still is) painful. No gory details but you can imagine! May have to have another procedure this week to rectify a spasm that won't go away. Pure joy!
Feeling a little sorry for myself which is not my style so I'm going to pull myself together, rise to the occasion and either go shopping (always a tonic), build a fire and watch a movie, or perhaps both.
On the movie front I've seen two at the flicks recently 'The Road' and 'Avatar'. I can recommend both but the road is unremittingly depressing; quite the bleakest thing I've ever seen but brilliantly acted by Vigo Mortesen (Lord of The Rings). Avatar totally lives up to its press - see it in 3D.
Can't be too ill can I as I managed a night out with my mates night, poker (with matchsticks) at which I'm unbelievably crap. Quite clueless.
I'll probably regret blogging this but faith levels are low at present. God seems quite distant and getting to church is a battle and not much of a priority which perhaps it should be. Been 100% for God all my live but suddenly realised how many family days haven't happened because of churchy stuff. How many evenings in the past we haven't seen our kids because of one event or another. It's bizarre really but we are not really going much at present and not particularly missing it. Taking a spiritual sabbatical. No doubt I'll be inundated with comments (that will teach me to be so self disclosive) but please, keep it nice!
So guys; thanks for checking in.
Regards
David

Hi David
So been there before with the spiritual/church sabbattical! Just enjoy some you and HE God time rather than worrying about what the rest of us crazy Christians are upto!

Hi Dave
Just 'happened' across your blog?"! Have emailed the Whelan DG to pray for you again. God is just crazy about you! He is literally spinning with delight in you!! This is big, but He is bigger! Evil will not have the victory - you have such an amazing testimony. I know that there will be more mountain tops but is can be hard to see them when you are stuck in a dark valley. We're standing with you for complete healing.
(And yes Avatar is brilliant!!) Bernice x
Hi Dave,
Really hoping that you soon feel a bit better on all fronts - we need some bright sunny days to help! As for the film front, haven't seen Avatar but the one we did manage over the hols was Alvin & the Chipmunks 2 - aimed at the 4 & 8 year olds (as our 2 loved it) but some funny bits for the grown ups too - take Carys?
We've got the log fire burning tonight so chill out and have some family time - give the drugs and radiation time to do their stuff to the 'nasty' while your good bits heal...
Take care,
Love Jane Charsley & co x
Hey Dovid,
What is going on...I turn my back for a few "moments", and, well...chaos!
Never feel guilty about not going to every event at church....God first, then family, then church ....
God is with you wherever you are, and He delights in the love you have for your family...so just continue to enjoy them.
My prayer for you is that you really FEEL a God hug. You know in your heart that He suffers alongside you, but I guess at the monment just knowing is not enough, you need to FEEL His arms around you, and the power of His healing needs to warm you right through to your bones.
Too much has been going on here for me to fill you in, but,on the pet front (no more pony jokes)we do not have our beloved shetlands any more...big decision....due to finances,(my heart aches a little less now) but we do have another dog in the family....!
Our border Collie is no longer with us, (sadly, since New Years Eve, ), so we needed to get a new friend for our Husky Ben...so we contacted ARAS rescue where all our lovelies have come from, and lo! they had a female Husky looking for a new home....she now has one, with us. I will now brace myself for the onslought of jokes that will follow when I tell you her name...ready...Toast!
Yes. Toast! She already had that name, and to change it would have meant her getting used to something else new, so Toast and Ben it is, and occasionally Ben on Toast!!!!.....surprisingly she has come into season before we could get her booked in...so fancy a Husky puppy or two?
Hey, I could start a whole new lot of jokes about you getting a Husky rather than ponies.......I will get my thinking cap on.....
I will send some pics through to your e-mail address, so that Carys can fall in love with them, and start to nag Mum and Dad about something else teee heee...!
Well better end this essay now...you know we pray for you, you know we yearn for our God to heal you, nothing will ever change.
Love to you all...hope the "newsy" message gave you a titter or two, failing that there is always Florences high heels to give you a buzz.
love ya all,
Sianaroonie
Hi Dave all thinking about you keep it up big bro always here if you want a nater will get in touch when you are home luv you lots (sorry for the mush)
Ady
We didn't even think you were the church goers!
Hi Dave,
You learn a new thing every day, but excuse me when I say this, we never thought you were the church goers!
Maybe less church time will be best BUT make sure you really mean what you say, spend time with your family. So don't go on any holidays for 2 from now on. I bet the children will be glad to have you around more, you are their father after all mate. You really need to be with them more. From what we read you seem to be doing things and not having much family time.
Keep us all posted with your news. Go and be a family! Time really IS precious.
All my love to the family.
Did Amy get married in the end?
Blessings,
Nathan T,
