PCs & PICs

Hi Blogland,

Hit the office this morning with Teresa at 7.30 for the delivery and installation of 15 new PCs for the tuition centre. Sometimes I forget just how big Teresa’s business has grown. At our two centres (Bedford North & South) she and her team of 10 tutors teach 265 children per week. The old PCs were getting ‘tired’ and were ready to be pensioned off.

After that we went to the Primrose Unit so Teresa could be taught how to change my PIC line dressing. While I was there I mentioned that my mouth was very sore at the moment. Next thing I know I’m seeing the consultant, having blood tests and being prescribed special mouthwashes. The chemo mucks up your chemical balance and make your mouth quite painful. My blood tests were great again – they were worried I might be getting ‘low’. All this took much longer than we were expecting of course and so by the time we’d finished off setting up the PCs and doing the daily banking the day had gone! Friday’s supposed to be Teresa’s day off. Never mind. Settling down tonight to watch ‘Stardust’ on DVD with the kids, a fire and a scotch (that’s the drink as well as Chloe our mad and irresistibly daft Scottish au pair).

I notice the weather has taken a turn for the windy; typical, my mum struggles on a calm sea never mind a gale. My parents are jinxed. Every time I take them to France there’s a storm. Last time it was so bad the breakfast display in the restaurant collapsed and the shops were awash with broken bottles. We are praying for good weather on Sunday night for our crossing from Portsmouth – St Malo. We are just going for a few days to work on the cottage.

Anyway ‘Stardust’ beckons.

Have a great weekend. Dave xxx

Oh no!!!!!

I have got "man flu".
Been far too miserable to blog, you know....feeling sorry for myself....nobody understands how much worse than childbirth this is.....sniff cough snort......
However, after lunchboxes, animals, hoovering, polishing, and drinking gravy, I feel much better!!!!Or was it the 3 hot toddies I had?(whiskey, sugar and a little hot water).
Anyway, Dovid, sorry to hear that you are now having to put up with a sore mouth. Try rubbing the neat scotch on it(whiskey).
We pray for a calm sea on Sunday, and that you will have a blessed time with your parents...remember to keep still in that rucksack, and of course we are praying the blighter into non existance.

LOL to you and yours,
Siany

Sorry to say I cheated with the letters, as the first time I signed in I got AZZZVX !!!
Not even my brilliant and witty brain could do anything with that. How about fellow bloggers?
Here goes with the not much better selection (serves me right for cheating,I guess!)

Don't know what happened there.
I lost a sentence on the first blog, and it reappears at the bottom, after I had posted!!!!!
So the bit that says "cannot be man flu then..." should not be there at all!!!!
I was getting good at this too, hurry up with those brain pills Dovid, it is now urgent!!!!!
Not doing the letters this time fpgun!

Greetings Dave - pass our regards to mum & dad....i still blush when i think of your mum telling us that joke in their conservatory about 20years ago! It ended something like - 'you'd do a lot better if you took your tights off'. They're stars and i hope you all have a good jolly in frenchington.

been cutting back the hedgerows around stamprock estate today, amazed at how you have to fight back the new growth even at this time of year, visualising the tumour being cut back by the master surgeon, these chuffing hawthorn fight back i'm cut to ribbons, and so will this cancer, we're not afraid of it's name, you will know the truth about it and that truth sets you free. Just because it shouts loud and fights back doesnt give it the right to win.....ask ricky hatton whether all his mouthy bravado helped him win the boxing in the usa, no he was dropped to his knees and ko'd. As mouthy as cancer is - it can be dropped to it's knees.
Sorry getting a bit lippy there myself - love to you guys.

Hi David have been reading your Blog after being told about it yesterday. It is many years since I lived next door in The Croft and since I last saw you. A lot of water has passed under the bridge since then for both you and me. Having been diagnosed with Lung Cancer in 2001, surving radical surgery to remove my right lung and then being told 18 months later that cancer had returned in my remaining lung was a hard pill to swallow (forgive the
pun). According to the law of averages I was told I had 4 to 6 months to live. Not being an average person I decided it was not my time to die and I still defy the medics (God bless them). Know what you are going through with chemo although I did not enjoy the hair loss and succombed to a wig for journeys outside the home. Tried a new super drug in 2006 after going to appeal to get it. I had never suffered with acne but I did then - rash and huge spots over my face, scalp, inside ears and nose. Looked good!! Still you have to put up and shut up in the hope that the benefits will outweigh the negatives. I was not responsive, however, I still have life and live it to the full.
David you have your faith, family support, good friends and you are young!! and fit and beleive me that carries you through the ups and downs. You and your family are in my prayers. Will log in to the blog in from time to time

Hi Dave (and Teresa as I know you will read the blog and the comments). We did have fun yesterday didn't we. We prayed for you during the Refresh service as you were on the high seas with your Mum and Dad at that time. Hope the crossing wasn't too bad for your mum!
Refresh was great. We all brought what we had and Ken did some foot washing. Very humbling!
Not that many of us there but it was lovely.
Andrew C from London Rd came. We need to pray for then there.
Lovely post from 'Jenny'. What an encouragement to hang on in there.
I'm still on a hoigh from the Glory School. I'm practicing seeing angels. Give it a try. the silver nad green ones are for healing. I'm asking a few to come and visit you.
Love you all loads
Blasting heaven!

Hi David
just had to log on again. Hope the sea journey was not too bad, thinking of your mum and her relationship with the water. I have been for a CT Scan this morning, it is just waiting for the result that I find rather difficult. Somehow you get through and get on with life. Whilst I keep as well as I do I will not have any more treatment even if there is further progression. My Oncologist and I have this understanding. I live with cancer and like to be in the driving seat. I often have a conversation with the cancer - crazy you may think but I feel I have to tell it to behave or go away. Also God has been good to me and given me the strength and determination to live and to appreciate each day. On a sunny day like to day I love to drive in the countryside and see the beauty of the hedges and fields and the trees starting to wake up. The wonderful colours of the daffodils and crocus and the sparkling blue, blue sky. Fortune has shone down on me. Take time to drink in the peace and quiet of your beautiful cottage in France and come home refreshed and ready for whatever you have to face. You can do it. Luv for now Jenny
