Chemo #2

Hi Guys

Went for my second chemo today, went in feeling very well came out feeling not so well. Cold sensitivity started again straight away and feel sicker this time; was sick in the car on the way home but mum had a bag filtched from a ferry. The nasty stuff went in a lot easier with the PIC line, no pain at all which was much better. Pink wee and itchy 'crown jewels' again.

Going to get some rest now. My parent have come down from Derby on a mercy dash to mop my brow and feed the kids.

I will try and blog more tomorrow.

See ya

Dave

Dave

from reading your blog post today it would seem I need to spend some more time in the "Methodist Westminster Abbey".

I only have 5 more lunchtimes in London but I found the prayer combined with some meditation today very therapeutic so I will spend some more time in the company of John Wesley over my next five working days.

I suppose this is a silly question but have you been there? It is amazing. I truly wish I had visited before today. It is a real haven of tranquility in the middle of the jungle that is London. I am so glad I went. You see the effect you have on people! You have me, a committed Buddhist, spending time in a Christian church. I will call it the Redfern effect! Still, Buddhism does not talk about God it provides a philosophy for living that leads to happiness. It is possible to believe in Christ and be a Buddhist. It would not be unbuddhist (I think I just invented a word!!) to also be a Christian. I am not too sure how the Christian churches would feel about Christians practicing Buddhism? All answers gratefully received.

It won't be long before I start working in Huddersfield. It does not boast any impressive churches or Cathedrals but it does boast one of the finest Grade 1 listed railway stations in Europe. Also a statue of Harold Wilson and what looks like a very fine Argentinian steak house.

Enough of my inane ramblings.

You concentrate all your efforts on getting better.

One other thing David have you thought of trying visulisation techniques? It is something I use a lot to get rid of ailments including headaches, toothache, pain of a sprained ankle... If you want to know more leave me a message but I have a feeling you might know about this already.

Love

Dee

Dovid,
Been at the pink gin again then?
Hope the crown jewels settle down.
Good job Mum had a bag at the ready, as the advice to "be sick in the bag in front of you"(as on aeroplanes) is not easy...especially if you have never met her before!
Home group tonight, so Gods got earache to look forward to!
Every minute, of every day, the yearning continues......no trace.
LOL

GOT TO BE BLUE TIN WITH TENNANTS EXTRA WRITTEN ON....NOT COMING TO ONE OF YOUR PARTIES....ahhhh Bisto!

Hi Dave
I kept thinking about you tonight and hoping you hadn't been too sick.(not so fond & thankfully distant memories)
I thought I should maybe explain why sian keeps saying yearning. It was a word God gave me on Sunday, that we needed to yearn for your healing. I think it is deeper than longing, anyway that's what I was given.
Very interested in Dee's comment. My response Dee is as I understand it Buddhism is about searching your inner being. something Christians do a lot of or should. But in addition Christians look upward towards the creator God. Wesley's Chapel is great isn't it.
Back to you Dave, yearning and praying loads

C'mon Dovid, sing along.....

I'm waiting for my life to change,
When the waters stir, you can rearrange me,
Just one touch is all I need,
I've nothing much but the wounds I feel,
I'm looking for the hand of the Miracle Man.

Holy, you are holy,
Who was, and is, and is to come,
Holy, you are holy, Saviour, Healer,
I'm standing at the feet of the Miracle Maker.

I;m holding on, with your life in mine,
Living waters come, and you've rearranged me,
Holy, you are holy,
who was, and is , and is to come,
Saviour, Healer,
I'm staring in the face of the Miracle Maker.

Jesus, precious Jesus,
Thank you, Saviour,
I'm walking in the shoes of My Miracle Maker.
I'm standing in the faith of a Miracle Maker.
( Delirious? 2002)

Dear Miracle Maker......in your name, NO TRACE. Amen.

Hope today has been more comfortable.
Love ya,
Sian

Yes you are correct. I indulge in such practices as concentrating one one thing and one thing only, examining the wonder of it, how it looks and how I feel about it. Feeling emotions both good and bad and accepting that both good and bad are a part of life. Rather than trying to push feelings away by suppressing them I embrace them with open arms and learn from the experience.

If I have a headache I don't reach for the pills. I concentrate on it and then gradually move it up and out of the top of my head. Using the same technique I can slow my heartbeat. The hardest thing of all is to clear your mind of all thought. If you can succeed at this it is better than a night's sleep and very refreshing.

The thing I particularly love about Buddhism is that it has taught me how to be in control of my emotions simply by showing me the way to understanding them. I feel more in control of my life and able to cope in the worst of situations. Some might say it is self indulgent but you will not be in a position to help others if you yourself need help.

The other thing I love about Buddhism is the inclusive nature of it. It doesn't not tell you that believers of other religions will be going to hell because they are not Buddhists whilst at the same time stating that there is only one God. God is not a possession and he/she will not bend to the will of any particular religion. God to me is universal.
